Zsolt started this project from a discussion on the Development forum of http://sinclairzxworld.com/ with a conversion to run under Spectrum emulation on the ZX81 (yes, a suitably-equipped ZX81 can emulate a Spectrum). Now this project has blossomed into a native ZX81 game which contains all the elements of the Spectrum original.
See the old version and the new back-to-back in Zsolt's YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcH-tY7hTQ8

A new feature has been added to the Cyningstan web site. Our games can now be played here on-line, right in your desktop web browser! On each game's own page there is a new panel, in which an embedded Spectrum emulator now loads the game for you and allows you to try it out without any download or game installation necessary.
To use this feature, your desktop browser will need to have Java enabled. It will also need to have a big enough screen resolution to show the embedded game adequately in the web page. The emulator features joystick control: just use the cursor keys and the CTRL key on your keyboard.
Performance may not be the same as a real ZX Spectrum or an emulator application installed on your desktop computer or mobile device. And you won't be able to save your progress within the game. But it should be adequate to give the game a trial run before deciding whether to download it or not. Please note that in some browsers you will have to clear your cache, if you have visited this site before.
This feature is powered by the QAOP emulator, written by Jan Bobrowski. If you want to investigate QAOP further, please visit Jan's own QAOP page at http://wizard.ae.krakow.pl/~jb/qaop/.

18 Mar 13: Ossuary: a new game for the ZX Spectrum
Today the ZX Spectrum has another game in its library: Ossuary. Descend into an underground burial complex to rid it of the necromancer who has taken up home there, much to the annoyance of the local villagers who still want to use it to inter their dead. Work your way down through 24 levels of monsters and treasure to reach your enemy. Nobody has made it yet. Nor, probably, will you. (read more...)

Work your way down through 24 levels of monsters and treasure to reach your enemy. Nobody has made it yet. Nor, probably, will you.
You'll have to deal with natural creatures that the necromancer has changed out of all proportion with his magical powers, from giant bats to scaly serpents. And of course there'll be the undead: bodies raised from their eternal rest, and spirits summoned from the world beyond. But you will find weapons and other things to help you on your quest, if you survive long enough. And treasure. Lots of treasure.
Ossuary is a "rogue-like" game, a turn-based dungeon hack adventure that does not rely on fast reflexes, but gives you time to consider your next move. It works on any Spectrum from the original 16k model upwards, and on any system that can run a Spectrum emulator - that might include your phone! Download it from the game's own page.

Recent release Intergalactic Space Rescue has been given a write-up in popular UK magazine Micro Mart, by regular writer and retro-fan Shaun Bebbington. Micro Mart is a weekly publication available from most good UK newsagents, and by subscription from its web site.
Micro Mart started as a classified ads magazine in the 1980s and it's nice to see that it's adapted well enough to survive into the eBay era. Nowadays Micro Mart includes articles and reviews to supplement the classified ads making it an interesting read, especially if you're also looking for a real Spectrum on which to play the latest Cyningstan release!
Shaun writes a regular retro-column for Micro Mart. Past articles have included a very good series on machine programming for the Z80, the processor at the heart of the ZX Spectrum. You can visit Micro Mart's web site at http://www.micromart.co.uk/.
